June 11, 2011I have been taking care of my patrner who has bipolar/ schizo affective disorder for 11 years. When he was able, my life was chaotic, hospitals , non compliance etc. The past year I have used vna, and he is slowly deteriorating to where he needs more care than I can give. He has gait instability and a self care deficit. I work, own a home, have pets, and help oversee my aging mother. I am stretched past my limits. Letting go is a huge struggle. I am really afraid to do what I know is needed for his sake and for mine.
