I am an LPN looking into opening an Adult foster care home (in your case you may need an Adult Foster Group home). Rules are different in all states, but seems to hold some kind of hope for the right situation. It can take a lot of research, energy and assertiveness to get the answers and help that you need. Do not take no for answer unless all resources imaginable are exhausted. It sounds like you may need an advocate, something else to look into (yes, more reasearch). Get a hold of The Department of Aging in your state. Talk to everyone and anyone who will listen, if they don't listen or are clueless, go above them. There is a lot of money set aside for different programs withing the government, and it's almost as though they try to make it impossible for the normal person to take advantage of them. It is your type of situation that compels me to dedicate my life to improving the quality of life for our senior citizens. Good luck to you.
