Dr. D'Aprix's focus on providing service for seniors and their caregivers started at the State University of New York at Albany, where she concentrated on Aging Studies in both her BS and MSW programs. In addition to her university degrees, Dr. D'Aprix holds the designation of Certified Senior Advisor and is currently on the International Faculty for the Society of Certified Senior Advisors and the Canadian Academy of Senior Advisors.

Through the Jordan Institute of Families at UNC Chapel Hill, she trained social workers on Geriatric Mental Health and Best Practices in Adult Services.

Dr. D'Aprix's passion for caregiving is driven both from her professional background as well as her personal experience caring for her own parents for over a decade. She is a much sought after speaker at corporate and professional events on the topics of caregiving, aging, and retirement. Her warm and engaging style has resulted in clients and caregivers across North America affectionately referring to her as "Dr. Amy". She has also authored two books and many articles and is a frequent guest on radio and television.

Many proactive companies—including Humana, Inc., and Home Instead Senior Care—have had Dr. Amy help their employees and clients gain a better understanding of caregiving. She is currently delivering a unique retirement seminar, across Canada and the America mid west, for a large, cross-border, financial institution. Through a series of engaging and interactive exercises she helps clients envision a clear picture of their retirement future. To date she has held over 35 events with thousands of boomers in attendance. These events have resulted in rave reviews from participants and brought in significant amounts of new assets to the organization.

In May 2010, Dr. Amy was a speaker at the International Federation on Ageing conference in Melbourne, Australia. She sits on the Business Development Group of the International Federation on Ageing and is on the Medical Advisory Board for Humana Active Outlook, a Division of Humana, Inc.
